WEDDING.

SMELLIE—OUR On Wednesday afternoon Miss Lottie Orr was married to Mr A. Smellie, of the Chief Mechanical Engineer's Staff, Government Railways. The wedding, a quiet and pretty one, was solemnised at the residence of the bride’s mother, Sydney street, by the Rev. J, Gibson Smith, of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Mattie On*, and Mr G. Rrodie acted as best man. There were In attendance about thirty guests, including the Hon. T. Y. Duncan, Mr and Mrs J. D. Sievewright, Mr and Mrs John Mackay, Mr and Mrs M. Young, Mr and Mrs D. McLean, Airs Gibson Smith. Mrs Dr Gibb, Mrs Taylor, Mrs Rodger, Mrs Urie, Mrs Strawbridge and Mrs McLeod, as well as Misses Knowles, Smellie, McLean (2), Bonayne, Grant, and Urie. After the ceremony the guests were entertained at afternoon tea by the bride’s mother. Several toasts were honoured, that of the bride and bridegroom being proposed by the Hon. T. Y. Duncan, a very old friend of J lie bride’s parents. The bride was simply attired in a white cloth dress, with chiffon and lace front, and a white felt hat trimmed with ostrich feathers. She carried a shower bouquet of white flowers tied with white satin ribbons. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a diamond and opal ring. The bride’s gift to the bridegroom was a silver-mounted umbrella. The bridesmaid was attired in a red cloth dress, with Victorian lace yoke and white felt mushroom hat, and wore a cable bangle, the gift of tlie bridegroom. The newly-wedded couple were the recipients of over one hundred handsome and useful including a marble- clock from the mechanical engineer’s staff, a silver teapo-t from St. John's football club. cf which Air Sincllio was a member, and a case cf silver fruit knives and forks from St. John’s Bible Class. The honeymoon is being spent at the Southern. Lakes. Tlie bride’s travelling dress is a blue cloth costume, sable furs, hat en suite. On their return to Wellington Mr and Mrs Smellie will Itake up their residence at Ivelburne.
