The death has occurred at Motueka of Mr diaries Thorpe, aged eighty-four years. The annual meeting of the Philatelic Society of New Zealand was held last Thursday. The report stated that the society had made steady progress, and dvit the meetings during the past season were welJ attended. The “'exchange system” under the management of Mr Thomas Acocks, continued to give satisfaction. During the session three hundred and thirty sheets, containing 11,880 stamps, valued at £ISOO 6s 3d, had been received for circulation, and out of these stamps valued at £362 4s 3d had been selected. The receipts for tlie session amounted to £193 Is Bd, and the expenditure totalled £165 2s lid, leaving a balance in band of £27 18s 9d- The liabilities amount to £29 4s 5d ; and the assets are valued at £B4 7s 2d. The report Avas adopted. Officebearers for 1905 AA'ere elected as folio avs : — Patron, his Excellency, Lord Plunket; president, Sir Joseph Ward, Post inaster-General; vice-presidents, Messrs A. T. Bate and E. G. Pilcher; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr L. A. Sanderson; exchange superintendent, Mr Thomas Acocks; committee, Messrs J. 11. W. Wardrop, C. T . Callis, P. B. Phipson, and A. Hamilton. Messrs L. L. R. Hansburg and H. L. Wade were elected new members. The Belgian Consul in Wellington (the Hon C. J. Johnston) has been advised by the Consul-General at Melbourne of tiie death of Baron Lambermont, Minister of State and SecretaryGeneral of the Belgian Foreign Office, who had rendered great services to his country in a diplomatic capacity.
