A SANITARY LESSON.
The French Government has just issued orders for an inquiry into the sanitary condition of all its post-offices. Dry sweeping and sprinkling with water are strictly forbidden, while rooms with tiled floors are to be flushed with water every day. Parquet floors are every day to be wiped over with hot turpentine, sprinkled with dam]) sand, and swept. Once a week floors, whether tiled or parquet, are to be sprinkled with, a disinfectant. Tables, desks, and telephone apparatus are to be wiped with cloths dipped in a. similar disinfectant. Sanitary appliances are to be kept perfectly clean by frequent flushing, and, if necessary by sprinkling with turpentine. Placing spittoons in the rooms is strictly forbidden, and those which are already in us© are- to be removed immediately. The rooms are to he ventilated as freely as possible, especially in the absence of the stafi.
