RIFLE SHOOTING

“ TIMES ” v. “ POST.” A rifle-isihoo ting match between teams representing the “New Zealand Times” aind “Evening Post” was fired at Miramar on Saturday 'last, and resulted in a win for the “Times” by a margin of 73 points. (The teams left town at halfpast one in drags, and arrived back at about six o'clock, after an enjoyable sport. The majority of the Competitors being civilians, the scoring was not brilliant, although C. Baloombe (“Post”) and A. France CTimes”) each made 33 out of a possible 35 at the 200yds range. The thanks of the teams are due to the Wellington Navals for the use of their range and for ammunition; alfeo to the D. Battery and Post and Telegraph Rifles for ammunition. The conditions were—Twelve men a side; ranges, 200 and 500 yards, seven shots at each. Following are the scores:— “TIMES.”

In connection with the above a sealed! handicap was held for trophies amongst members of the “Times” team, the following obtaining prizes:—A*. France (scsr), Johnstone (9), J. Rankin (8), t>. Po'rritit (8), and H. O. Browne (10).

At Blenheim last Friday letters of administration were issued in the estate a man who was lost at Pert Underwood twenty-three years ago.
