A WONDERFUL RECOVERY

Our illustrations are of a mare belonging to Mr T. H. Brown, of the Gear Company. The animal had its leg broken, and it was set on July 3rd by Mr John MeKie, M.R.C.V.S., Wellington. It is customary to shoot horses that meet with a broken leg, but Mr McKie’s experiment was successful. The horse was taken out of the slings on September Bth, and was photographed with the bandages on that day, and four days .later they were removed when the other photograph was taken. The mare was given gentle exercise daily until the 30th September, when she was turned out into a paddock. Thanks to the attention of the groom, Mr Ernest Evans, the animal was free of sores despite ner long confinement.
