The nails should bo manicured twioe a Aveek to be kept in good condition, though in somo instances once a Aveek is quite sufficient. After Avashing the hands, the membrane should bo carefully pushed back AA'ith the ivory presser or orange stick and polished Avith a chamois leather rubber. The nails should bo rubbed every day, as it not only gives them a good appearance, but strengthens them. If a good nail emollient is used regularly the nails can be kept quite young-looking till lato in life. A knife should ne\-er be used on the nails, and all sharp instruments should be avoided, as it not only injures the delicate surface, but roughens it, and as a result the injured cuticule collects dust and foreign particles, when it is almost impossible to keep the nails appearing well. When using a bleach tinder the nail, it should be immediately washed off, as it injures the cuticule if allott ed to remain on long.
