MANAWATU A. AND P. ASSOCIATION

EIGHTEENTH ANNUAL SHOW. The spring show of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association takes j places on November 18th, 19th and 20th. ! Consistent with the progressive policy that has been adopted by the association since j its inception, this year sees fresh perm a- j nent improvements being made at the j show grounds. New stands have been | provided for horses adjacent to the show ! ring. This will facilitate judging, and j provide convenience for horse-own- j era. Similar innovations have also been j made for accommodating Ayrshire and ’ Jersey bulls, large', covered-in stalls bet- | ing erected for the purpose. The com- I pletion of this important accommodation means that the whole of the purebred ! mala stock ou the ground will be housed ! and fed on the ground during the pro- j gress of the show. The old produce hall ! has been removed! to at position adjacent I to the new Exhibition Hatll, and wil'l, ats [

heretofore, accommodate the dogs, for which 57 clashes have been scheduled, together with prizes amounting to- the same figure. A perusal of the schedule reveals systematic revision of the various sections, together with the introduction of new classes and com petit ic-ns, presenting an extended field for interested exhibitors. On tho first day of tho show, a Madden Hunters’ Competition, open to all horses that, have not won a jumping or ste e pie c lias o competition at any agricultural show or advertised race, is among tho innovations for the year! The second day also has fresh competitions for tiie best lady driver, and the best turn-out driven by a lady. The conversion of the wood-chopping competition, which takes place on the second day, into a handicap event, is a> welcome departure. Throughout the whole of the stock sections revisions and introductions have been made, and the schedule as it now stands is* probably thei most complete in the colony. Neiv classes have boon introduced for thvee-year-old fillies or geldings, and draughts in the horses’ division, and for Southdown (shorn) and merino (in wool) in sheep. Entries close with the. secretary on tho 29th iust.
