While in Auckland, Mr T. E. Donne had a trial trip in the Auckland harbour in the new oil lajunch Kokurangi, which is intended for the tourist traffic on Lake Waikaremoana. The launch which is 35ft long, 7ft 6in wide and of 12 horse-power, is fitted with a Union oil engine, and was built, by Logan Brothers, the engines having been supplied by Ryan and Co. The vessel, which was designed on the whaleboat principle, will carry thirty passengers. Mr Donne states that she answers every, expectation, and that experts consider that she is one of the very best launches built in Auckland. Mr G. T. Cross has been appointed Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages at Napier, in succession to Mr J. Burden, resigned. The apointment will fce guzmted shortly-
