The New Zealand Fish Refrigerating and Curing Works, being successfully carried on by Messrs W. Hurcomb and Son. wholesale and retail fish dealers a' 74, Cuba street and 17, Molesworth street, Wellington, is worthy of more than mere passing mention. This is nor an important industry. Away back >n
1874 the firm established themselves in the firm established themselves in Christchurch, and ten years ago they opened in Wellington, where they have, besides giving the utmost satisfaction to their numerous patrons, demonstrated the fact that fish to be marketed in choice condition must be delicately treated, in similar manner to that of butter, meat and other perishable foods In their establishments they have deservedly won the premier position for the excellence of the articles they place
on the market, and they are purveyors to His Excellency the Governor. Besides fish the firm is a cash buyer of rabbits, oysters and poultry, which are again retailed at prices to suit all. The firm’s window is worthy of a visit at almost any time and as will be seen elsewhere, our photograph artist has displayed his art upon a view of it in full profit. Further up the street is the fish-curing establishment of the firm, a photographic view of which is also given.
