The county boundaries dispute between the Wairarapa South and Feathcrston County Councils has at last been settled by mutual agreement. The ratable area of Dong-bush, consisting of 4887 acres, and Mr G. Pain’s property (898 acres) lias been transferred from the Featherston County to the Wai.rarapa County, whilst from the latter to the Featherston County are transferred 3709 acres of the Gleuburu and Glendhu blocks, situated near the East Coast. Committees from the two interested local bodies settled the dispute, the services of an arbitrator being dispensed with (writes our Carterton correspondent) on account of expense. For some tinio the cry of the Wairarapa Council was that it maintained roads which led from the ratable areas of the Featherston County to Carterton. Featherston County is now allotted 3709 acres, because Air E. J. PLiddiford intends constructing a new road from Glenburn to Martinbo rough. The result of the agreement is a distinct gain to the Wairarapa South County Council. Air M. G. Irwin, of Invercargill, has been appointed teacher of the northern group of schools at the Chatham Islands. Mr Irwin was formerly a pupil teacher in Dunedin, later on he entered the Training College in Dunedin, and at the present time he is teacher in the Invercargill Middle school.
