On xf the very beet business ites of Victoria Avenue, Mr James lodson, a pleasant business man of eeri acumen, has established himself in hat most attractive of all restaurants i the town of Wanganui —the Silver rridi —nearly opposite the Fountain quare and the chief post office. Since ssuming the control of this popular stablisliment, the enterprising proriietor has made many costly and exensive inprovemnts both as regards eternal adornment, the show windows aving been most tastefully decorated y that well-known artist Mr Tingey, F the firm of Tingey and Co., and the iteiior of the commodious and wellghted supper and luncheon room on ae ground floor, which has also been jnovated and: made up-to-date, but hicb is yet to be further improved ; in ie upper portion of the building, hidh consists of' another siupper room sed extensively by private supper sorties, and the football and cricket rubs for smoke concerts and other leasant gathering, everything has been tade new and bright, and supplied with rery convenience; then there is the wnmercial room for gentlemen, .which as been madek very inviting, and has 3ten liberally supplied with all the best ewspapers and periodicals of the day, nd from the front windows of which
capital views of the town are afforded. Under the best management and one of the finest of cooks, the fare, be it for luncheon, dinner or supper, which may be partaken' between midday and midnight, is recherche. Of fine afternoons, too, the ladies repair hither for the refreshing afternoon cup of tea and cakes not to be surpassed in the town, and while they enjoy harmless scan ial, if they be so minded they may order wedding or birthday cakes, well assured of promptness in the despatch and delivery of their orders, and also of the good quality and exquisite taste and design of these finely flavoured eatables so necessary at those highly interesting ceremonials. Our photograph of the Silver Grid further informs the reader of the first-class nature of Wanganui’s up-to-date restaurant, and Mr Hodson is to be complimented upon his enterprise, which is certain to hancLsomely remunerate him.
