SWIMMING
WELLINGTON ROWING CLUB’S SPORTS. The annual • swimming sports of the Wellington Rowing Club AA T ere held at tho clubhouse on Saturday afternoon, in tho presence of a large number of spectators. The weather Avas beautifully fine, and the races, on the whole, were Avell contested. Additional interest AA 7 as added to the sports by the inclusion in the programme of events of an exhibition race between J. K. Hamilton, tli ewell-knoAvn Greymouth swimmer, aaTic is en route to Brisbane to represent Neiv Zealand at the forthcoming Australasian championship meeting, and F. Roberts, tho Wellington swimmer.- The distanco AA'as 100yds. Both men appeared to bo in good form, and swam an even race throughout. The judges declared the contest to be a tie. The results cf the races are :

Wolff, <jC«seo, 1; A. McAlpinc, scr, 2; H. Dawson, ssec, 3. Club Handicap, 100yds.—A. McAlpine, scr, 1; J. Calnan, 3seo, 2; G. Pleyer 2sec and W. Read 7sec also started.
Comic Diving.—W. A. Trevor, 1 ; C. R. Furness, 2; E. Hutchen, 3. Novice Race, 40yds.—H. McKinley, sseo, 1; V/. Chirnside, 6sec, 2; E. J. Read, Cseo, 3. The other starters were—N. Honour 2seo and W. Stewart 4sec.
Neatest Header. —W. Stewart, 1; G. Pleyer, 2; N. T. Raymond, 3. Club Championship, from Queen’s Wharf to boathouse. —H. Jones, 1; A. Me Alpine, 2. The other starters were —B. Wolff and W. Robertson. Avery even start was effected. Jones soon forged ahead and made the pace, which proved too fast for the unplaced men, who retired before half the distance was covered. McAlpine swam, a very easy stroke, and looked like winning when 100yds from home, but Jones, who was in splendid trim, kept up tho pace, and eventually won by a,bout 10yds. Time, 9min 25sec. he Greasy Boom event - was won by W. A. Trevor.

DUNEDIN, March 1
At the Dunedin Amateur Swimming Club’s carnival the hundred yards championship of Otago was won easily by H. Creaghe, with A. E. Hawkins second. The winner is a recent arrival from Queensland. He -won the. club’s maiden race a month ago. He is only seventeen- years of age, and has a splendid style. He was rehandicapped for the 150yds handicap by being put 3sea behind scratch, making the limit 14sec, hut he won the handicap comparatively easily in 2min 13 3-sseo. Scott Colville (Christchurch) won the life-saving competition and 200yds breast handicap from scratch. The 50yds senior handicap was won by Buchan (llsec) by a foot, to the delight of the spectators, the winner having but one leg.
