WOODVILLE7 February 25. The Woodvillo District Jockey Club’s autumn meeting opened to-day in showery weather, but it cleared after the second race.

The winner of the Cup turned up in Oracle, one or the least backed of the field. Alas, who failed to get placed in the Maiden, -won the Welter in good style. The stewards considered his running. They decided not to disturb the judgo’s decision. When at about the three-furlong post Cannie Chiel moved up quickly, and was disputing the lead with Lady Lilian and General Symons. -As they turned into the straight for two or three strides Cannie Chiel was actually in front. Orloff came at him on the outside below the distance, and these two had the finish to themselves, the end of which was a win for Orloff by two lengths and a half.
