GOOD PLAY BY WELLINGTON MEN. CHRISTCHURCH, January 19. The Noav Zealand Bowling Association’s annual tournament began this morning in excellent Aveathcr. The Canterbury rinks ail suffered badly, tho only ono loft in (Jackson’s) owing its p’nco- to tho disqualification of the Dunedin, rink through one of the player’s bowls being loaded. CHRISTCHURCH, January 20. At the boAvling tournament to-day the greens Avere again very keen, and the play AA r as of a higher standard than yesterday. The fourth round of the Rinks Tournament was completed, Green Island winning from Christchurch very easily. The best game Avas that betAveen Dunedin and Roslyn, the former Aviuning by one point after being two down at the twentieth head. There Avas an interesting game betAveen Dunedin and Invercargill, the former Avinning by four paints after a very even game. The Aveather Avas fine and the grounds in good order. Tho greater portion of the day Avas occupied Avith singlehanded matches, which have now reached the final stages. The Wellington player Bell Avon six games and is now in the final.. His opponent will not be knoAvn till to-rxorrow, as there are two games still to be plaj'cd betAveen Allnutt (Roslyn) and Bishop (Christchurch) or Cow (Timaru). ' The bowling tournament Avas continued to-day in excellent weather. The morning Avas taken up with the Singles, Doubles and Rink® Matches, Avhicli were brought to their final stages. In the afternoon there Avas a large attendance on the Christchurch green, Avhen a team under 45 y ear s of age beat a team of 45 years and over. The following are the results: CHAMPION DOUBLES. This morning ' the concluding scene of the boAvling tournament was begun on the Christchurch green, Avhere tho finals of the tournaments that had been proceeding for the past four days Avere played. The green Avas in very good order. The final of the Doubles Championship Avas disappointing, ChurcliAvard and Webb beating Simmers and Rowley very easily by 30 points to 11. At tho seA'enth head the score was 12—4, in favour of the ultimate winners, and at the fourteenth head 19—9 Avas recorded. ChurcliAvard and Webb continued to score freely, and their opponents resigned at the tAventietn head Avith the score of 30—11. Louisson and Bishop played off with Tisch and Seager for third prize, and another TunaAvay game resulted, Bishop Avinning by 21 to 13- At the eighth head the score AA’as 8 5. in favoui of Tisch and Seager, but from that out they lost ground steadily, and were beaten as stated. The final of the Consolation Rink Match betAveen*. Oamaru (Martin) and Kaituna (Sneddon) Avas a fine game. Sneddon scored 2 and suffered defeat by 2 points. Tho Singles Championship was decided in the afternoon. At the last head play Avas very close, and with Bell lying 1 Goav made a good but unsuccessful attempt to drive his opponent’s ball out of position, leaving Bell to win by 2 points.
