While in Europe, Mr W. G. T. Goodman (electrical engineer to the firm of Noyes Bros.), who passed through Wellington thei. other day on his way to Dunedin, made a trip upon the highspeed railway between Berlin and Zossen. r . This railway, which is about thirty miles in length, was built with a view to experiments with high-speed, locomotion, and a rate of 120 miles an hour is often achieved upon it. Although, not travelling at this rate, Mr Goodman, found the speed attained during his trial trip sufficiently high to impress him Avith the possibilities of the system. A trip on the mono-rail line to Elberfield was another interesting experience. Railway construction on the West’ Coast is very brisk, and moTe men are now being put on to the Ross-Hokitika line. The main Grey bridge will fee completed in a feiv weeks, and the contractor will then proceed with <S railway and traffic bridge over the Mom kitika river.
Dr C. 'Fenwick, who was recently surgeon at the Christchurch and also spent some two and a half years with the troops in Sontfa. has commenced practice in W^angamut^
