The team of riflemen from the Wellington Highland Rifles that went to Wanganui on New Year’s Eve to compete against the Wanganui Highland Rifles in a ten-men-a-side shooting match is expected to return to Wellington by to-day’s train. The match was won by the Wanganui team by a large margin. The visitors took part in a church parade that was held yesterday, and during their stay in the picturesque place of the sand flunes they were most hospitably treated by their hosts. The poor showing made by the Wellingtonians in the shooting contest wjas in part due to the fact that they had to shoot two hours after they hacf landed from the train after a night spent',,,in travelling. Amongst the ' entertaininent provided for the visitors by the Wanganui Highlanders was a smoke concert held on New Year’s Night, and a trip up the Wanganui river on Sunday afternoon.
