WELLINGTON TABLE TALK
(BY “ERIE/’) The boys of the Parliamentary School delighted that their holidays are coming earlier than usual this year, and are doing their level best to deserve them bv paying industrious attention to their duties. It is a record session for the absence of empty loquacity. Some M.H.R.'s who have been regarded as absolutely incorrigible bavo actually learned to hold their tongues unless the demands' of duty necessitated their making speeches. Now they are to have their reward in the shape of liberation from the irksome task of legislation in about a week. They want to be well round the Heads before the Premier arrives, lest ho should have sundry tasks for them to endure before they got back to their constituencies.
Nest year we shall all watch v.iili keenest interest to see what sort of members the country has chosen. If they are a very mixed lot, we protest against the bad ones being_ blamed on the women’s franchise. We shall do our best to sort out most suitable candidates, but in many cases there are no suitable ones to choose from. The increased honorarium will tempt such a heap of needy men to try for it. and that- will prevent really good men from offering their services to their country. • * * * *
We are going to have a musical treat In the concert that is to he given to Mr Hill. Those who heard the tuneful, pretty music of “Hinemoa” whin it was given in the Exhibition in I 306 will remember how lovely the airs and harmonies were, and how we wished to hear it again and again. Wc expect the Opera House will be crowded, both for the sake of the music as well as for the purpose of .welcoming back so talented a musical man as Mr Hill. * * * * *
