The late Mr Clapperton, who died suddenly on Thursday at Feilding, was sixty-seven years of age. He was bora in Glasgow, went to Victoria as a young man; and joined the drapery firm of Crombie, Clapperton and Findlay, afterwards reconstructed as Clapperton, Findlay and Company. When the Melbourne houso was closed he entered the services of tho Union Bank, retiring on a pension in tho early eighties. He was managing director of tho Dunedin “Evening Btar” in 1895-0. Deceased leaves a widow, ono son and two daughters, ono of tho latter being tho wife of Mx Hoggifc, solicitor, of Feilding.
