MANAWATU A. AND P. ASSOCIATION

The monthly meeting of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association was heid at Palmerston North on Saturday. Mr S. Wright, of Wellington, was appointed delegate to the New Zealand Kennel Club. Fifty new members were elected. A sub-committee was appointed to report on the holding of a dairv show, etc., during next winter. For Romney sheep classes it was agieed to have two judges to facilitate judging on the show ground. Judges accepted were—Thoroughbreds, Mr Thos. Morrin. Auckland; saddle horses, Mr H. D. Vavasour, Blenheim; harness, Mr Jas. Macara, Masterton; Ayrshire cattle. Mr Robt. Meek, Southland; Jerseys, Mr A. Quertier, Mataura; fat stock, Mr A. McKenzie, Featherston; Romneys, Mr Jas. Holmes, Waimaliaka; Leicesters, Mr H. Brydone, Bulls; Shropshire Downs, Mr N. Beetham; pigs, Mr E. D’Auvergne, Sefton; poultry, Mr C. Canning, Ilawke’s Bay (heavy breeds), Mr J. D. Iremonger, Wellington (light breeds); collies, Mr A. Clilford-Bramah.

The association nas decided that the wood-chopping competition at the forthcoming show shall be from scratch instead of a handicap. Mr D. B. Buchanan was deputed by the association to give evidence before the Frozen Meat Committee now sitting in Wellington, relative to the export of frozen meat and the prices of stock in both islands. No action was taken by the association in reference to the request of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association for co-opera-tion in obtaining better shipping facilities for stock at Auckland.
