Mr Cecil Jones, formerly of Geelong, liad been permanently appointed manager of the "Wellington branch of the Huddart—Parker Proprietary, vice Mr Murrell, who resigned a few months ago. Mr Jones will probably arrive in Wellington towards tbe end of nextweek.
The Government has received letters and telegrams from all- parts of the colony from the relatives of troopers who have died or been stricken with illness, expressing appreciation of what the Government has done on behalf of such troopers, and returning thanks for the sympathy and care displayed in such cases.
