AN AUSTRIAN PARNELL.
Herr Wolff, the well-1 inown Pan-Ger-man leader in the Austrian Reichsrath, notorious for his turbulence and strong language, has resigned his seat. The event is causing some excitement in Austria, as he was a personality of much picturesrjueness, though he had had comparatively little education. Herr Wolff was a political agitator and the originator of the Austrian methods of Parliamentary obstruction. He became the leader of the Radical Pan-German Party when lie was thirtynine years old.
Herr Schoenerer, another party leader, became jealous of Herr Wolff’s success, both political and otherwise. A special meeting of the party was called, and after violent scenes, the latter was forced, by reason of much delicacy, to abdicate and retire from public life for ever. His downfall may cause the division of his party. For tlie above reasons it will be readily understood how Herr Wolff has earned liis nickname of the Austrian Parnell.
