The Gisborne Chamber of Commerce is considerably agitated over the fact that the Poverty Bay district has no representative in the Legislative . Council. The committee in its annual report stated that it had interviewed the Hon. J. Carroll on the subject. The me-eb-ing,selected four men, Messrs Townley, Rees, Delautour and Dickson, and de* cided t c meet the Borough and County Council and the Harbour Board and endeavour to enlist their co- operation in the matter. Dr Chappie will inaugurate a series of evening lectures next week on “ Homo Nursing and Hygiene” to women only, under the auspices of the St. John Ambulance Association . The latest donation to the Victoria Home for Chronic Invalids is £2 1Q» from Messrs Baker Bros'.
