As a result of the establishment by the Government of a Tourist Traffic partment, with Mr T. E. Donne as Corot* missioner, Mr G. E. Alderton, journalist, who is engaged to write up, describe and illustrate the various health and pleasure resorts of New Zealand, the routes usually taken by tourists, the best means of travelling, the time required, the cost, the best hotels to stay at, etc., is now in Wellington. The work is to he profusely illustrated, so that tourists can, on referring to the Guide, get a good idea of any route of travel in the colony, from the Bay of Islands to Invercargill, and be able to select that one which will best suit bis pocket, his tastes, and the time he may have at his disposal.^The steamer Gadsby, s of the A. and A. line, was to have sailed from New York for New Zealand ports on May 24th. The steamer Indralema has been advei* tised to sail from New York on the 30th inst. for Australian s and New Zealand ports.
