Numerous petty thefts of timber from buildings undergoing construction in Nairn street, and its vicinity are reported ; and it, is suggested by residents there that that part of the city and the district about Mitchelltown have now grown to such proportions that a police station is required there, independently of the one at Mount Cook. Already, however, some very excellent villas have been completed. The fine weather yesterday led a large number of Petone residents to visit the settlement, from which a splendid view of the whole of the harbour is obtainable.
