A new five-masted sailing ship, length -400 ft, breadth 53ft Sin, and depth 33ft 7|in, has been ordered to be built at Ge>estemuiide. for the Hamburg firm of F. Laeisz. This wil be a much larger boat than the celebated five-master Potoai, belonging to the same firm. Her carrying capacity will be 8200 tons, while that of the Potosi is 6200 tons. Forty per cent, of all the year’s deaths in London occur in, December, January and February. The lifeboats round the British coast during the last year rescued 682 people.
