' CHOSEN. . ./ (_ ■ ■ It will be recollected that at a conference held in London some time back it was suggested that this colony should be consulted as to the strengthening of the Judioial Committee of the Privy Council. Through; his Excellency the Governor the Cabinet' has received a . communication from the Secretary of State asking New Zealand to nominate a legal expert to proceed to London,’ and to represent the colony at a con-fi ference to be held.
The matter was considered by the Pr< mier and his colleagues last week, an it was decided to ask Sir James Prei dergast, the late Chief Justice, to a snme this important position. 7 Sir James has responded? that he av) be quite Avilling to place his services i the disposal of the colony, and will, a oordingly, proceed to London at a early date.
