AUSTRALIAN FEDERATION.
POSITION OF THE GOVERNORS.
SYDNEY, February 1. Seine little friction has arisen over the relative positions of the Governor-Gen-eral and the State Governor. It is contended that Lord Hopetoun as head of the Commonwealth, .proclaimed the King, there is no l necessity for the Lieut.-Governor to do likewise.
It is suggested that when Lord Hopetoun resides in Sydney he should act as Governor of New South Wales, and similarly .in Victoria, thus saving the expense of two establishments, until such time as the federal capital is set up.
