Our Carterton correspondent writes as follows : —Although the wot weather of the past month has been discomforting to agriculturists, it has proved of inestimable benefit to sheep farmers and the dairying indt stry. Owing to the abundance of pasture, the milk supply has been a. record one for the month of January. There is no necessity for owners of stock t<> sell to the big companies. Meat lias been steadily rising, end is now fetching quite a fabulous price. Lamb is being sold at sixteen shillings per carcase in the butchers’ shops.
