TIMBER-YARDS AND SAWMILLS : DISPUTE..
‘ The recommendation of the Concilia, tion Board in the timber-yards and saw-
mills industrial dispute was delivered yesterday. The chairman stated that the Labour Department having been closed on the previous day, he had not received the usual type-written copies for distribution among the parties and the press. He then proceeded; to read the Board’s recommendation from the original draft, which was in effect,as follows: . A week of forty-six hours; weekly wages for competent men at planing and .moulding machines, £2 15s ; at circular saws, breaking down timber, £2 8s; at circular saws, 7 in finer work, £2 14s ; all other machines referred to in demands, £2 15s. All wages mentioned are at minimum rates. A weekly wage of £3 to be paid to all drivers of over 5 h.p. engines, and £2 10s for engines under that -Sower,;-; yardismen solely employed receiving and giving out timber shall he
