GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL.
GARDEN PARTY AND SPORTS. The lady principal and staff of the Wellington Girls’ High School entertained a large gathering of parents and friends of the pupils at a garden party on the 30th ultimo. The function, which was held in the grounds attached to the school, proved most enjoyable. Afternoon tea was served in a large marquee, and throughout the afternoon Jupp’s Band discoursed excellent music. Croquet and putting competitions were held among the elders, and for the pupils a lenghty programme of sports was provided. The grounds presented' tm. animated appearance throughout the proceedings. Miss McLean, the lady principal, ably assisted by her staff, was most assiduous in her endeavours to minister to the pleasure of her guests. The sports were superintended by the following committee of gentlemen: Messrs Joynt, Brandon, Biss, Bethune and Field. The presentation of prizes was made by Mr A. de B. Brandon. At Ahe conclusion of the gathering cheers were given bv the guests for Miss McLean. Aliss Hamilton, the late principal of the school, was present at the festivities.
