Under Captain Dove between thirty and forty new recruits are making rapid progress from awkwardness to efficiency. The Borough Council intends to transform the enclosures in the Main street from eyesores into a state that will be a credit to the town.
The Pahiatua Rifles are now able to parade over sixty strong. Mr John Hall, of Pahiatua,' who is at present paying a visit to the Old Country, has written a letter to a friend in which he describes the pleasures of his trip. Mr Hall has found the Old Country much changed since he left many years ago to make his fortune in the colonies.
