STRUCK BY LIGHTNING.

DEATH OF A MAN AND HORSE. Blenheim, January 18. During a heavy thunderstorm, which occurred this afternoon, a man named C. Goff and a horse he was riding were killed by lightning. A resident of Renwicktown found the bodies on the river bed a short distance from that place. Goff was considerably blackened and burnt. Another horse, which deceased had been leading, was standing by, paralysed in the hindquarters Goff was a farm labourer, 29 years of age, and leaves a widow and four children. The storm was the heaviest known at Renwicktown, some of the flashes being dazzling.
