PORT MCHOLSON YACHT CLUB. ANNIVERSARY REGATTA. Mr A. G. Johnson represented the club on board. The duties of starter, timekeeper and judge were carried out by Mr J. B, Speed, assisted by Mr H. Ballinger, a member of the committee. The system adopted last year of allowing the yaehts to stdrt in two races on the one day—one undef sail-area rating and the other under ordinary handicap allowancewas again put into successful operation. The light southerly wind that prevailed during the morning fell completely away towards noon, and between 1 and 2 o cl?ck came away from the north west, light but steady, enabling the fleet to set all available following are the results of the ;** |j irst-claas Yaoht Race ; open to yachts of 5-rating afid over. Prizes—First, £10; second, £5 ; third, £3.—There were seven ••ntries for this race, and a splendid start, was effected, the Kona crossing the line first fol lowed by the Atalanta, Mapu, MiLmv and Mawhiti, the three latter boats crossing at precisely the same time. The course in this race was shortened, the boats o ;ly having to beet up to Ward Island instead of the Binnac.es. The following are the handicaps:— Kona, scr; Atalanta, 40aec; Waiwotn, 40960; Mapu, lmin 22seo; Mahina, 4min 37seo; Mawhiti, 7min 3seo ; Kotin, 7mm 3laeo. There was a very fine finish to this race, only a few seconds dividing the Rona from the Atalanta, the Mahina and Mawhiti, third and fourth respectively, boing close up.
