fMPROVSP giaPLEX IHCDBATOR. Roberts’ Patent. >Vill Hatch Evert Well-Fertilised Egg. PEICES FROM 70s. Send Stamps for Illustrated Catalogue. South Dunedin, October 4tb, 1808. Mr J. F. Roberts, Abbotsford. Sir,—l have much pleasure in sen dir. g you the record obtained from your 40-egg Simplex Incubator, that result being practically 100 per ceut. in its return as regards its working utility. But to be explicit the following is the batch obtained from 44 eggs:— 5 unfertile 1 stopped at about tenth day. (Fault—l2 hens to one cook) 3 died in shell. (Inbred; wouldn’t hatch under a hen) 85 hatched without any help at all 44 Several hatched in 19J days, the majority on the 20th day,'and all were hatched before 21 days were complob d. The eggs ranged from a fortnight to a day old. The temperature throughout averaged 103 deg, and the oil consumed 7 b pints. F rom the eighth day the eggs were turned twice daily (previously only in the morning), and at the same time the piece of canvas was put over them and kept thore till the chicks began to batch, when it. was removed. The eggs were also aired each morning for 10 minutes, as recommended in your directions. In refereuee to the hatching, I considered that with care to the temperature a fair result would be obtained, but was surprised at the perfect hatch aud at the splendid way in which the chicks have pulled along since.—Yours truly, (digued) Walter Lorixg.
