MISSIONS IN CHINA.
FURTHER OUTRAGES ON PRIESTS. Hongkong, January 16. News has been received of further outrages upon foreign clerics in two inland provinces, in which rebellions were lately reported to be in progress. In the province of Hupeh (Northern Hu), one of the middle Yang-tse districts, a Belgian priest named father Delbruck has been murdered, and lour mission churches burned. In one of the towns of Szu-Chuan—-tho western province abutting upon the boundary of Tibet, to which China was lately reported to have sent 5000 troops, drilled under foreign officers to cope with the rebellion—Father Fleury was attacked by rebels and severely maltreated. ,_ Paris, January 17. The outcome of the request of the French Government that an Apostolic papal delegate should be appointed at Pekin is that Father Battenbourg (chief of the French Lazarists) will most likely
be appointed. The German missionaries will bo subordinate to him.
