Commenting on a recent death from the explosion of a kerosene lamp, the London "Daily Chronicle" says: "Another death from tho low-flash oil. A woman goes out to evensong, leaving her invalid sister in her room with the lamp burning. She returns to find the room burnt out ond hsr sister removed to the hospital to die. A fireman had found her lying insen sible upon the floor. The oil flashed at G2deg., though it is well known that no oil should he used with a lower flash-point than 105. This is the 689th accident of the kind which has heen investigated during the last two years by the London County Council's inspector alone. There have probably been at least as many more unreported, and within three years 115 men, women and children have been burnt alive. They were burnt to maintain the dividends of a ring. The ring is rich; money is not without its influence and Parliament is busy. So the people burn, and tha ring grows richer,"
