The distribution of prizes in eonneciion with the New Zealand Philanthropic Society's Girls Institute took place on I rielay evening. Mrs C. Hhisch. president, presided. A letter was read bv Miss Boushton from His Worship the Mavor apologising for his absence, owing to a prior engagement. The following ladies distributed the prizes:—Mrs E. Broacl Miss J. Boughton and Mrs Whiteford' The successful ones were: —First prize for good conduct, Miss Grace Langfordfirst prize for regular attendance Miss Elsie Robertson; first prize for Bible recitation Miss Cnssie Langford; first urize for Bible reading, Miss Carrie Denhard The following pupils obtained prizes for various other competitions:-Misses Kate Gosling.
