Washington, January 13. Colonel Eagan, chief of the Commissariat Department, wa3 recently ordered to be tried by court-martial for calling General Miles, commander of the army in Cuba, a malicious liar. General Miles alleged that the department had supplied bad meat, which had been embalmed chemically. The Court haa now reported that the meat was good. It is rumoured that President McKinley intends to retire General Miles.
San Francisco, January 15. The British ship Andeline foundered in a squall off Tacoma, Puget Sound, on the Pacific coast of the United States. Nineteen of the crew; were, drowned.
