That Power has in Mediterranean waters to-day more ships of war than Spain and Italy together; she has in American waters more ships of war than have both America and Spain; she has in Asiatic waters more ships of war than all the Asiatic fleets of all the nations of the world. A war with England over Tenezuela’s grievances would have been the height of folly, and probably there is no intelligent American today who is not glad that crisis was passed. —“ S,F.
