There is apparently money to be made in the manufacture of sauce, as the will of the late Mr Charles Lea, of the firm of Lea and Perrins, was recently proved at Home to the tune of personalty and .£BB 000 realty. ' It is notified in tbo Gazette Ihat Mr C. Brown, of New Plymouth, has been authorised to aot as an interpreter. The following information has been sent to supervising valuers relating to the question of land-tax returns by the Commissioner of Taxes :—" Land tax returns, unless specially written far, are not required this year, or unless owners in consequence of changes desire to make a fresh return, as at 31st March 1898. The next biennial returns are not required till 31st March, 1899, and probably will be called for by Ist May, 1899. The Ist July, 1898, but this will ba duly adver.
