Dunedin, May 4. At the choir contest in connection with the Exhibition the Moray Place Congregational was placed first with 256 points ; Trinity Wesleyan, second, with 235. Dtjnedin, May 6. A sum of .£146 7s has been stolen from a boarder at the Leviathan Hotel. The thieves entered the room while Mr G-eorge Poole Bell was asleep, and abstracted the money from 'his inside waistcoat pocket. Suspicion fell on two of the inmates, and one of them named John P. Donovan was arrested. The other escaped by fire escape rope, taking the money with him, and is still at large. The police to-night arrested a man named Jefferd alias King, on suspicion of being connected with the robbery. The detectives have also arrested a man named Greenwood, alias Johnston, in connection with burglary at Mr Mos3' residence. It; is probable charges may also be laid against him for being concerned in recent burglaries in the North. The attendance at the Industrial Exhibition keeps up in a surprising manner, and to-night there were as many present as on the opening night. The band contest, confined to country bands, was brought to a close to-night. The Port Chalmers and Mosgiel bands tied for first prize, with ■ Kaaoby third and Eoxburgh fourth. Duneoin, May 9. The fruit importers here have received intimation from the Minister of Agriculture that any infected fruit must be destroyed or returned, but what is at present in the shops will not be interfered with. The agents cf fho EKaganiHo have received an intimation that the fruio in the ship has bean irrevocably condemned, but the shippers have the option of sending it back to Sydney. The Elingamite was so late in reaching Dunedin that the fruit was not touched to-day. New Zealand Cross by the Mayor, at the City Council meeting, for an act of daring performed during the war. Auckland, May 9. Mr Sergeant, residing in tho Junction road, Paeroa, was so seriously injured in a family quarrel that his recovery is considered doubtful. Sergeant and his brother-in-law named Gerald Morrisy had an altercation, in which several members of the families joined. It is stated that Morrisy in the heat of the moment threw half a brick at the head of Sergeant. Morrisy has been arrested. Nelson, May 0.

The flagship Ewal Arthur, with His Excellency Rear-Admiral Pearson, Com-mander-in-Chief of the Australian station, on board, arrived at the outer anchorage from Sydney at 8.30 o'clock this morning.
