YACHTING
On Saturday a Ladies’ Bracelet race was held under the auspices of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club. Owing to the lateness of the soason there were only fire competitors— Waitangi, scratch (nominated by Mrs Jameson); Atalanta, lOmin (Mrs Sohwartz); Mailing, 13min (Mrs Fell); Kotiri (Miss Petheriok) and Kona (Miss Turnbull), each 15mie. The course was from the clubhouse to the Pinnacle buoy and return. The buoy was rounded by Atalanta at 3.11 p.m., with Waitangi and Mahina in close attendance. Beating up, the Waitangi proved unable to overtake the Atalanta. The Atalanta at length was passed by the Waitangi, which crossed the finishing liuo4h 15min 35sec, but with only 25soc advantage. The Kotiri followed at 4h 21min lOsec, the Mah'na at 4h 25min 30sec, and the Kona at 4h 35min 30sao, the Atalanta thus winning by the narrow margin of lOsec from the Kotiri. Mr 4. G. Johnson (assisted by Mr J. Black and Mr J. B. Speed, secretary) acted as starter and judgo, Mr F. L. Bias acted as handicapper.
