The Pprt Nicholson Yacht Club’s handicap race Jot third-class yacht 3 took place on Saturday. , The following boats were entered i Mahaki* scratch; Iris, 12min.; lt ; pp’e, 12min ; Greyhound, 20min; and May, 20min.; but the Iris did not start. The Mahaki finished first, the Greyhound second, the Hippie third, and the May fourth, but the Greyhound won on time allowance, the result being Greyhound, 20min allowance, shra Omin 7sec, 1; ' May, 20aiin all .wance, chrs Grain lOseo, 2; Mahaki, scratch, 4brs 4dmin 15sec, 3. .a he Greyhound was sailed by Mr George Martin The Arawa Sailing Club’s fljet looked at it j be-t on Saturday aftornom, and much admiration was caused by the clever manceayring of the various crafts for positions at the starting line. As the flag , fell the,eleven boats got across within a few seconds of each other, and presented a splendid picture to the large number of spectators on The wharf. The first round was accomplished in good time, the Miru and Dauntless blearing the bnoy in 65min. A s the wind fell daring the second round all the boats returned to their moorings. The races will be sailed next Saturday a'ternoon. ! Auckland, February 5. To-day the race for yachts class D 30-footers for the Cup took place, and resulted in the Meteor winning by nearly 3min, the Rarere seSond, and Kotiri third.
