Among the many exhibits at *he show* was a patent horse and eow cover, manufactured by Mr W. J. Pallant, which, for workmanship and fit, wa3 pronounced by all to be one of the best ever seen. The fixing of the cover is very simple and good, preventing the cover from slipping off the horse or cow. Ihe cover is fixed by a leather thong running round the thigh and brought through two eyelet holes made in the cover, this contrivance doing away with all straps and buckles, and leaving the cover perfectly free for the horse or cow. In every sense of the word, Mr Pallant is to be congratulated on the simple method of fixing the cover. Palmerston Nobth, February 4. The Bam Fair was continued to-day, when the attendance was good, but the competition was not great for anything but Lincolns. The phenomenal price of 160 gs was paid by Mr Bremer, of Waverley, for one of Mr J. B. Sutton’s Lincoln stud rams, sold by the New Zealand Loan and Mercanti'e Agency Company, while Mr E. J. Riddiford gave 80gs for another Romney. A flock of two-t®oth rams ranged from £g to 3£gs; Border Leicesters from ligs to 2igs, English Leioesters froir l|gs to 2fgs,'Southdowns, 4gs. Generali] ’ there was not much demand for anything outside Lincolns, the next -being Romneys I but the prioes for these were as low as las- , I year. About 1000 rams were sold, th( J • major portion by Messrs Abraham and Wil [ \ liams, the Loan and Mercantile Agency Com Q p a ny next and Mr Matthew Henry olose up.
