A new steam lifeboat has been tried on the Thames. The fuel used is oil and coal combined. The propelling power is hydraulic, the system being that of pumping the sea water in and then forcing it out through tubes at the stern. The danger arising from the paddle or screw is thus obviated. The Amalgamated,.. Society of Bailway Servants will probably take steps to assist the sufferers by the recast bush fires*
