THE NEWZEALA.ND LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY COMPANY'S REPORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report for the week ending 18th inst. as follows: — Wool.—We have had no fresh advices from London since our last report, and there is no business passing locally, all parcels being held for our next sale. Sheepskins are coming forward freely for our next auction sale, which will be held on Friday, tho 25th inst., when we anticipate a keen demand. Hides. —A very fait demand exists for all lines of prime hides, and the market is firm at the following rates :—Prime stout well-flayed ox, 3d to 3Jd; green cowhides, 2Jd ; calfskins, 3d to 3£d per lb. Tallow. —A firmer tone is reported in the London market, and a better demand is experienced locally for shipping parcels. We quote—Good mixed, 13s to 13s Gd ; medium, 12s to 12s Gd ; inferior and badly rendered, 10s Gd to lis per cwt. Wheat. —A good enquiry exists for prime lines of whole fowl wheat, which we quote at 3s lid to 4s per bushel, sacks extra, ex store. _ 0 Oats. —A good demand is setting in, and prices are reported to be hardening hi the South. We quote—Prime short feed. 2s7dto 2s 8d ; discoloured, 2s Id to 2s 5d per bushel, sacks in, ex store. Seed Tartarian and Duns are scarce, and are worth from 2s lOd to 3s, ex store. Chaff. —The market is bare of prime bright heavy in oats, and Buch quality commands full rates. There is a good quantity of inferior offering, and in the absence of good lines this quality moves off fairly freely. We quote— Prme heavy in oats, 95s to 100 s; medium quality, 75s to Sss per ton, sacks extra, ex wharf. Maize. The market continues bare with a hardening tendency, and we repeat last week's quotations, viz.—Prime dry, 3s Id to 3s 2d per bushel, sacks in, ex wharf. Fungus.—No transactions have taken place since our last report, but the market is firm at 3d per lb for prime. MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL. London, June 17. The Bank of England returns published to-day show the total reserve to bo £25,834,000 (£582,00C more than last week), the proportion of reserve to liabilities being 5T30. Three mouths' bills are discounted at 15-16ths per cent. The following are the latest quotations foi Government securities:—
