Though the Waverley and B.at2, have succeeded in their mission of landing at SandLilJ Creek the mining machinery for. the Taiiapu .Estates Gokimining Company, there are yet a number of difficulties to be overcome before the plant reaches its destination. A number of punts have been constructed to carry the machinery over about six miles of water (up Sandhill Creek and over part of Lake Otuhie), and when this has been done there is a considerable distance of rough and hilly country to be traversed. It is somewhat remarkable that despite the rough handling sustained by the Rata (a? reported in our shipping column) the vessel landed all the machinery in splendid condition —not injured in the least. Captain Harrison, the master of the scow, was congratulated in having successfully accomplished the task of landing the mining plant uninjured.
