Washington, June 15

A treaty is being- submitted to the Senate which provides for the annexation of Hawaii by the United States. Under the treaty it is proposed that the American Republic should settle the form of government in the island, and assume the Hawaiian public debt on the security of the Crown lands.

The approval of the Foreign Belations Committee of the Senate is reported to have baen assured for the scheme. Washington, June 17.

President MoKinley, in a Message to Congress, says that the annexation treaty entered into with Hawaii continues existing relations, but makes closer the bonds between people closely related by blood ties. The President asserts that the United States Government will not allow any country to interfere between the Kepublic and Hawaii. In political circlps in Washington, it is expected that the Senate will pass the treaty. Washington, June 18.

Lilioukalani, ex-Queen of Hawaii, has protested against the annexation of Hawaii by the United States.

Tokio, June 17

Marquis Ito, formerly Premier of Japan, is of opinion that the new United StatesHawaii Treaty will certainly not create any international difficulty.
