The City Council met last -week. Present —His Worship the Mayor (Mr H. D. Bell) in the chair, Councillors Anderson, Myers, Willeston, Lindsay, Higginbottom, Devine, Fraser, McGrill, Barber and Smith. Mr C 4. H. Baylis wrote complaining- of the straying of cattle on Hutchison road. The Council referred the matter to the City Reserves Committee. An applicaticn by the Grear Meat Company for a larger water service was refused. The accounts were passed for payment with the exception of one item in the drainage account, and a sum of .£2O was paid to Mr Howe for his services in purchasing horses for the Council.
