Christchcjrch, May 12. At a meeting of the New Zealand Cyclists? Alliance to-night, the following records pu£ up by J. W. Jones on April 29th wera passed : —Half-mile, Imin 4sec ; one mile, 2min 11 l-ssec ; three miles, 6min 45 4-ssec. London, May 17. J. Piatt Betts, the famous English cyclist, at the Crystal Palace track beat th-j world's records for two to five miles. Melbourne, May 17. In a bicycle road race from Werribee to Melbourne, Sheppard, a clerk in the .Ne-v Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company, collided with a bridge, and was killed. Crotty, another competitor, fell over Sheppard's machine, and was severely injured.
